Logistics Manager

What will you do?

  • Prepare all necessary import and export documentation for finished products
  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate companies or departments responsible for coordinating, arranging and monitoring the transportation and movement of goods
  • Direct and manage Logistics Coordinators
  • Arrange for shipping documentation and oversee the scheduling and dispatching of goods and the tracking and tracing of goods in transit
  • Set performance goals, oversee the setting of transportation service rates and monitor revenue
  • Develop plans and procedures for the transportation and storage of goods
  • Negotiate with carriers, warehouse operators and insurance company representatives for services and preferential rates
  • Control the departmental budget
  • Submit insurance claims for any lost or damaged products in transit or on delivery
  • Coordinate any urgent shipments or Next Flight Out parts for global requirements
  • Act as a liaison between factory, customers and sales for finished goods
  • Deal with any shipment problems, and develop solutions to overcome difficult situations
  • Ensure shipments get from point A to point B in a timely and effective manner
  • Manage our company's fleet of vehicles and local P&D (pick-up and delivery) with our semi-trucks.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Seven (7) or more years of directly related experience, preferably on a global scale
  • Previous experience in directing and overseeing logistics staff
  • Detailed understanding of Customs regulations and procedures
  • Negotiation experience pertaining to rates with domestic and international carriers
  • Technical knowledge of CUSMA rules and regulations
  • An understanding of dangerous goods and WHMIS
  • Effective communications skills, written and verbal
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office®
  • Self-starter; shows initiative; ability to conduct business in a professional manner
  • Able to work independently in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • PMAC, Value Analysis & Transportation of Dangerous Goods all considered an asset
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field
  • Professional designation in supply chain or logistics
  • Experience managing a corporate vehicle fleet, including procurement and disposal
