Who are you?

The Product Engineering Leader role is responsible for providing technical leadership across K-Hart's engineering activities, supporting both product development and validation efforts. You are an experienced engineer who can take ownership of projects from concept through to field validation. You are comfortable making decisions, guiding teams, and working cross-functionally with design, test, and manufacturing. You bring both technical strength and practical judgement, with a focus on delivering reliable, field-ready equipment.

What will you do?

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback
  • Oversee and actively participate in the design and development of agriculture equipment products, ensuring they meet performance, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead design reviews to evaluate design concepts, identify potential issues, and provide feedback to optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools to create detailed 3D design models, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and emerging methodologies relevant to agriculture equipment engineering.
  • Support the resolution of design-related issues and provide technical guidance to troubleshoot and address engineering challenges during the product development lifecycle.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the design engineering team, encouraging idea sharing, creative problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay customer-focused by actively seeking customer feedback, conducting user studies, and incorporating customer insights into the design process.
  • Support development of product and service-related publications.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering and other stakeholders to ensure successful project completion within timelines and budgets.
  • Participate in and lead design reviews and engineering decision-making
  • Work cross-functionally with manufacturing to ensure successful product execution
  • Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards
  • Coordinate activities between design, test, and production teams
  • Engage with customers and field teams to understand performance and reliability.
  • Travel 10% of time for 1-2 weeks at a time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Agricultural preferred)
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience in agricultural or heavy equipment design and/or testing
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience
  • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to leaf and mentor others
  • Strong communication and decision- making abilities
