Who are you?

The Red Seal Machinist is responsible for producing high-quality parts using CNC and manual machines, ensuring compliance with specifications and production requirements. This role requires advanced machining knowledge, technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of precision and quality.

What will you do?

  • Study and interpret drawings, blueprints, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequences of operations.
  • Set up and operate various machines, including CNC tools, lathes, and milling machines, to manufacture precision components.
  • Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on materials or workpieces for subsequent machining.
  • Ensure workpiece dimensions meet established tolerances and quality standards.
  • Detect and adjust for equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, reporting issues to the supervisor as necessary.
  • Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools to industry standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Red Seal Machinist certification with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings with a solid understanding of geometric tolerances and dimensions.
  • Experience with CNC programming (G-code, M-code) is an asset.
  • Strong math skills, including geometry and algebra, for calculating material fabrication.
  • Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing work environment and handle competing demands.
  • Excellent analytical skills, a strong work ethic, and a positive team attitude.
