What will you do?

  • Review and process ECOs
  • Review drawings
  • Initiate Request For Quote (RFQ) with current supply base or new suppliers
  • Review quotations and evaluate specifications
  • Negotiate pricing, lead-times, lot sizes and delivery schedules
  • Issue and maintain purchase orders and part files
  • Establish strong relationships with supply base
  • Meet with vendors
  • Deal with invoice discrepancies
  • Work closely with Engineering and Quality groups
  • Research new products and suppliers
  • Work with suppliers for product changes
  • Work with suppliers to reduce pricing, lead-times and increase quality and on-time delivery
  • React quickly to emergency requests
  • Receive all materials into PRG Steel Warehouse inventory
  • MRO purchasing and receiving for Progressive Division

What do you need to succeed?

  • Post-secondary education in Purchasing is preferred
  • Three (3) years of previous steel / raw material purchasing experience
  • Working knowledge of steel market trends
  • Experience working in an MRP environment
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Superb communication ability, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office an asset (Word and Excel)
