Solidworks Designer

Who are you?

The ideal candidate should have the ability to understand the whole process from design to manufacturing and be able to work independently and with a team. Focusing on details to create accurate detailed drawings for production and 3D modelling in SolidWorks is a large part of the role. The successful candidate may have a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and be proficient in SolidWorks. Experience with SolidWorks PDM, Bluebeam Revu, and/or cam CNC programming of production machines would be an asset. Through experience, applicants should be able to identify the simplest path to quality and efficiency in all aspects of their work.

What will you do?

  • Create accurate detailed drawings for production and 3D modelling in Solidworks
  • Work both independently, and with a team.

What do you need to succeed?

  • High mechanical aptitude with ability for design detailing and product development.
  • Senior level of experience producing and revising shop drawings and details.
  • Ability to perform dimensioning and other basic calculations.
  • Advanced SolidWorks skills with preference for those who have certified training completed and industry experience.
  • Experience with SolidWorks features and reference geometry such as: Hole wizard, Pattern, Multi-configuration, Swept boss, Assembly mates, drawing views and BOM.
  • Mechanical Engineering Diploma, Degree or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution is preferred but not required.
  • CNC Programming knowledge an asset but not a requirement.
  • Experience with CAM Works would be an asset.
  • Preference to those who can demonstrate an understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, assembly.
  • Collaborative and co-creative with design/production team.
  • Support the Quality Control objectives of the company.
  • Experience working directly alongside production team members during builds and making necessary updates as required.
