Hydraulic Design Technologist

Who are you?

The Design Technologist designs, develops and tests hydraulic cylinders to meet customer requirements for performance, quality and delivery while ensuring Monarch engineering standards for safety and manufacturability. The Design Technologist collaborates with others to solve customer concerns and internal issues as they arise.


What will you do?

  • Design hydraulic cylinders using applied engineering principles, ensuring quality and manufacturability requirements.

  • Verify and validate products and designs by developing test plans, implementing and tracking results. Through analysis, determine and optimize design as appropriate.

  • Identify and recommend improvements to designs, and take appropriate actions to implement.

  • Collaborate with other departments such as Sales and Marketing and Production to meet Monarch's goals for quality, customer service, safety and cost.

  • Provide Production, Purchasing, Production Engineering and Planning with information and documentation required to produce products.

  • Research new solutions, components and methods, recommending and implementing where appropriate.

  • Meet with customers to develop solutions and provide technical support where needed.

  • Conduct all activities and execute all duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results- focused attitude.

  • Support company initiatives and policies enthusiastically.

  • May have opportunity to travel to meet with customers on occasion.

  • Other duties as assigned.


What do you need to succeed?

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience and possess a Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma.

  • Additional training or education in hydraulic systems, fluid power systems, welding applications and technology, manufacturing and design systems are considered an asset.

  • Experience designing mechanical components for efficient manufacturing is required.

  • Experience designing hydraulic cylinders is ideal.

  • Experience in an agricultural or mechanical application is highly regarded.

  • Motivated, self-starter, capable multi-tasker with demonstrated ability to adhere to tight schedules with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.

  • Dedicated to becoming increasingly knowledgeable on technical aspects of components, products and their applications.

  • Developed communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation.

  • Ability to quickly understand customer requirements, formulate potential solutions, evaluate and decide on the most effective solution.

  • Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes.

  • Proficient with solid modeling applications, ideally Solidworks.

  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and other common applications.
